may lj nga pala ako

May. 18th, 2007 | 01:58 pm

i've been addicted to multiply lately... i almost forgot i had an lj account.
what i post there will be different from what i post here. so it's not redundant.

well, if you have been reading my multiply blog, you will notice i've been asking lots of questions about faith, belief etc...

kc we should be sure of our faith, it's more important than almost everything i think. maybe it's the most important thing of all! but can we be 100% sure of it? no, we can't, 100% sure only exists in strict logic. but if we were 100% sure, we wouldn't need faith.

here's one of the basic questions that has been bugging me: why do I believe in God?
let me ask you, why do you believe in God?

well, personally, I first believed coz my parents did. most children follow their parents when they're young. but that's not a good enough reason, is it? what if our parents are wrong? (i'm not saying they are, it's just "what if"?) let's have an analogy. if your parents had a business, and you had a choice to inherit it or not, would you take over just because your parents owned the business ? there are more important things to consider, such as, are you competent enough for to take over? do you love working in that line of business? etc... well, this is just a crude analogy, but i hope you get my point. we shouldn't believe something just because someone else does, even though that someone maybe someone as important as a parent.

should we believe something because most people believe it? most of the world believes in Christianity. though it shouldn't be the basis of our belief, it does help us find out what to believe. because why do so much people believe it? there must be something there that is worth believing right? there must be something substantial that will account for the millions of Christians around the world.

well, what is that something?

i don't know yet... i've been thinking about these things a lot. i can't focus while i'm practicing piano anymore. haha..

in my multiply, i also wrote of this scenario: if someone were to study all the religions, which one will he choose to believe?

kc i was wondering, why did we pick Christianity diba? why not islam or buddhism? well, because we live in a Christian country, our parents and grandparents most likely are Christians also. but as i pointed out above, that's not a good basis for believing something. so why will someone pick the God of Christianity?

is Christianity more credible than other religions? i don't know, i haven't really studied other religions, heck, i have barely studied Christianity!

these are important questions! we need to answer these questions! if we don't have answers, we will have to find them! we need to be sure our beliefs didn't just come about by circumstances, but because we chose to believe, we voluntarily chose to believe. and we need to be sure that our choice is right.

i may be wrong on a lot of things, but i'm sure these questions are valid and important.

i pray God will show us the path to the answers... if doesn't want me to figure out everything i've been asking, sana he grants me peace.

now, who's with me?!
